Sofrito Carribean Cuisine - Newark

I always stop by when I’m in town. My favorite place and never disappoints. We were attended as soon as we came in and the hostess, greeted us. Quickly came over and took our drinks and arrived with menus. She had a smile and was ready to answer any questions. Food was hot when it arrived and she checked on us periodically, to see if we needed anything.

Best place to get Puerto Rican food. The alcupurias were amazing, they were crispy and soft. The shrimp Mofongo didn't disappoint. I do not need to go all the way to Washington Heights I can just go here instead. The pernil was a little bit dry but it was good. I wish they gave us some sauces but other then that id come back again.

I was born and raised in Puerto Rico, and my dad was proud of our Taino Indio heritage. I discovered this restaurant on Google Maps and I am so glad that I did. I ordered takeout on a Sunday and I had the best yuca alcapurria I've had in a long time, along with a delicious beef empanada and some carne frita (fried pork chunks) served with perfectly cooked arroz con gandules.

The food is fantastic, the prices are reasonable, and the service is outstanding! Thank you, Arelis, for providing such a wonderful dining experience!

Wow, I absolutely adore this restaurant. The food was incredible and the service was outstanding. The music created a great atmosphere that I thoroughly enjoyed. I left feeling full and content. This charming spot is definitely a must-visit for both the eyes and the taste buds.
