Deerfield - Newark

I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. My last visit (for a networking event) was at least 9 years ago... The food ambiance was stellar then, and it still is now! Everything is still cherry and bright: the dining area, the staff, and the energy. I will certainly visit more often.

Having been to many brunches at Deerfield, we were disappointed with this one. We had a 1:00pm reservation and arrived 20 mins early. However, we did not get seated until 1:20. The staff handling seating were very unorganized. The food was not up to par from previous times.

Jeff our Waiter and the other Staff provided excellent service! They went out of the way to assure that our needs were met in a timely fashion. The food was good however some servings were dried out from sitting on the warming trays such as the pork tenderloin or some of the stations didn’t have enough serving utensils for each dish displayed which can impact patrons such as myself with food allergies. Otherwise I was pleased with the outcome of treating my guest for a Special Occasion.

Party of 5 for the Easter buffet held at Deerfield at 4pm. The variety of food was spectacular. Some of the items were gone and not yet replaced but still the selection was there. The food temps were okay too. The Wagyu sirloin was phenomenal, from the taste to the texture. The room was elegant and the service was great Patrick was our server that day. Would definitely go back.

I don’t think we’ll be back — we found Deerfield’s service much changed since the last time we came for what we expected to be a top-notch area Easter buffet. Besides being over-billed almost $100 and the laboriously long wait before it was fixed, over and over we had to request plates being cleared from our table over the course of our brunch. When we arrived and places were set for six and not for our seven (then being billed in the end for eighth… , we laughed it off. Service went downhill from there. For $80 per person plus a liquor tab, we hoped Deerfield might try harder.
