The Mountain Cafe - New Zealand

Haven't stayed here but wanted to publicise the kindness of their staff, and to make special mention of those at Stratford Mountain House particularly Tracey and Lynne. Whilst visiting Taranaki in February, being typical tourists, we left behind a jumper/phone/credit card close to Stratford Mountain House. By the time we realised, we were 3 4 hours' drive away and because of our schedule, were unable to return. We contacted Stratford Mountain House and they straightaway went out and recovered the jumper/phone/credit card which had been left on a picnic bench. They then kindly arranged for the items to be couriered (at their own cost) to one of our group's Uncle up in Auckland, and they have now safely been returned to the UK and reunited with their owner! Thank you ever so much for your kindness! ????????????????

My wife and I stayed for four nights at the Ngati Ruanui Stratford Mountain House and had the time of our lives . We had a lovely room; the Mountain House proved to be a great base for walking; the courtesy of Rod, Lynn and their staff was unsurpassable; and the food at the restaurant (four nights running) was superb. I don,t know why this place osn 't booked out months and months in advance! if it isn 't, for in fact I booked some months on advanced I apologise if there are some typos here. For some reason about half of my text disappears behind a a column of 'possible contacts ' on the right hand side of the screen. The mysteries of FB. . . . . .

Outstanding food, outstanding service, can't fault!

The food is amazing and the service outstanding and friendly. Love the hot chocolates and garlic bread!

We absolutely loved our stay. Our friend treated us to an overnight stay with dinner and breakfast it was amazing. The food was outstanding and the spa bath even better. Would highly recommend to anyone and Hospitality from serving staff in restaurant was also amazing. Would definitely go back again.
