I was working in the area and was looking for some Mediterranean food and this place was the first recommendation, along with a photo of somethingcalled Desi Poutine. So that drew me in. And oh my god. I just found my new comfort food. I will walk across the city fortheir Desi Poutine. I 'm hooked. In addition to the poutine, I tried the Vegan 7 Vegetable Kathi Roll with Curried Carrots, BellPeppers, Onions, Tomatoes, Green Peas, Broccoli Cauliflower. Delicious! I 'm hooked on this place and I need to find reasons tocome to the neighborhood now.
I sat at one of their indoor tables for lunch and enjoyed a chicken tikka roll with fries and a mango lassi. I liked my meal and I'm glad that I finally tried this place. The menu is pretty diverse, so if I'm back, I will try something else in the future. The outdoor seating area is very large and shaded.
If you?re desi Indian/ Pakistani/ Bengali and you?re craving some authentic desi food do yourself a favor and do not come here. FOOD The food as absolutely NO flavor. I ordered masala chai, chicken biryani and aloo papri chaat. Chicken Briyani:tasted like plain white rice and boiled chicken. Where is the masala ? Where is the spice. I hate sending back food. But I hadto tell the server this is just not biriyani. She took it back and brought the ?briyani? back heated up and sprinkled Thaichillies on top. It was essentially white rice with Thai chilies and plain chicken. Masala chai : this was not any form ofsouth Asian tea. It was completely watered down and not steeped. It was not drinkable. Aloo papri chat: this appetizer dish wasbetter than the other two items I ordered but it was missing chutney sauce and lacked yogurt creating a rather dryconsistency.
Great variety of Indian quick bites. Happy to see them try to create a tasting menu blending Mexican and Indian quick bites (so NYC, so Cinco de Mayo, so tasty). If the tasting menu returns and/or if I would recommend 1 item to try it would be the pico degallo pani puri.
This is a wonderful gem in alphabet city. I recommend the Chicken Bihari Curry, very much a pick me up. The service here is nearly automated, you sit down and order/pay via a QR code with waitresses coming by just to check if you have any questions.Very well put together outdoor space as well!
