Now is the hype justified? I?m torn. I?d give the July 2022 menu 3.5 stars whilethe service/experience 5+ stars. The meal didn?t start for me until the third course: red pepper noodles, jellyfish, and pinenut milk. The pine nut milk was sweet and excellent, pairing well with the unique textures of the jellyfish and noodles. Thestarters and courses that came beforehand were very safe. The other course I enjoyed was the sea cucumber, jidan sauce, andfermented tofu rice. It was a very nostalgic dish for me, and I?m always a fan of unique and native ingredients. The rest ofthe menu was somewhat whelming. I?ve had my fair share of tasting menus and have had better experiences in terms of theproportion of courses I?ve enjoyed. Ultimately, I felt like I was left wanting more. I feel bad giving this less than a 5-starrating because the people were SO nice and the whole experience was lovely. It?s the full experience that I enjoy, and that goesfor everywhere I eat at. I will definitely revisit Atomix since this current menu seems weaker than their previous ones.
This is not only a meal but an experience, guided by not only the generous and attentive staff, but the writing of the chef. Located in a renovated brown stone, there is nothing about Atomix that is left to chance; every detail of your experience hasbeen considered and catered to. Some of the best service I have ever had at a Michelin star restaurant! I will eagerly goagain and see the other seasons pass; the menu is revamped every four months and we were lucky to debut the summer menu. Thefood was interesting, educational and yet familiar to those acquaintanced with Korean food. A dining experience I cannot waitto have again. Once again a shot out to the wonderful staff, who engaged all the diners about the food, the drink, andthemselves. Thank you for sharing your space with us! Hope to see you again soon.
They change their menu every season (four times a year) and we were told the chef refuses to reuse any protein dish, which means even repeat diners will get to experience something different every time they visit. We had the summer menu of the year at thechef?s counter and the it was wonderful from start to finish. The space is very intimate and the servers are all so friendly. They love to stop by and chat while you enjoy your meal. All of the them sounded like such big foodies! They showed a notablepassion for the dishes they presented and they gushed over the flavors with me. The star of the show was the sea cucumber dish.I think it was the general consensus around the table, too. I?m not a fan of sea cucumber, but that dish made me change my mind!I also loved the pine milk dish very much. I thought the dessert was the most forgettable dish and I wish they did something alittle bit more with it. They gave a good amount of food and I was very full by the end! You get to choose your own chopsticksat the very beginning which I thought was a very personable touch. You also get a card for every dish which lists all of theingredients on it. That was clutch for someone like me who always forgets what the server said the dish was as soon as they walkaway. Side note: The team behind Atoboy and Atomix are opening another restaurant this summer 2022 called Naro. The onlyinformation they gave us was that it will be located at the Rockefeller Center at rink level. With how successful their othertwo restaurants have been, I?m sure there is a lot of anticipation for the grand opening!
Best fine dinning experience at the bar, period. Everything was great: food, cocktails and service. My only complaint is that it?s too hard to reserve a seat and we do want to visit again!
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING. As a Korean, I was a bit skeptical visiting this joint. However, after visiting this restaurant, it has become one of my favorite, if not, my favorite restaurant in the city. Each meal comes with historical descriptions of the dishin a card pairing, which is very unique. AND each cards are designed by NYC local artists. The staff are very engaging, friendly, and helpful if you needed ANYTHING. Each dish were prepared in the open kitchen and served by staffs with harmonictiming. The drinks, including the plum cocktail, were excellent! I never thought Korean contemporary can be world-knowncuisine. But now I understand, it certainly have a place for it. I will be returning to restaurant every season! I trulybelieve this restaurant can earn 3 stars in the future!
