Tzarevna - New York

For dessert, we enjoyed syrniki, which were delightful. My mother, who is quite picky when it comes to food, really enjoyed everything we ordered, and my husband appreciated the nostalgic comfort of his childhood favorites. It was a wonderful experience! As I mentioned earlier, the restaurant puts a modern spin on traditional favorites, with a nostalgic yet cozy ambiance that also features mid-century modern elements. It's definitely a fantastic place to try for anyone new to the cuisine of this region and looking for a great dining experience! And I cannot emphasize enough that EVERYONE should order the khachapuri because it is absolutely delicious (see attached picture). Thank you for a wonderful evening!

Tzarevna is truly a hidden gem, offering great quality at an affordable price. It's not easy to find Georgia Eastern European cuisine in NYC, but this restaurant excels at providing elevated dishes made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, without overwhelming richness or decadence. My first visit to Tzarevna was a delightful experience; we ordered several popular dishes and even managed to get a wine tasting for our party of three. The standout dishes for me were the duck, dumplings, and khachapuri. To top it off, the final bill was surprisingly reasonable given the quality of the food and the wine tasting—this meal felt like a steal. Take a chance on Tzarevna; you definitely won't regret it!

I visited this restaurant because I was craving borscht. It was decent, though a bit too oily for my taste (I ordered the beef borscht). We also tried the salad with beets, potatoes, and marinated herring, which was quite delicious. The signature dumplings were flavorful, packed with dill and other spices, but similarly to the borscht, they were a bit on the oily side for me. Overall, this restaurant offers a cozy atmosphere and is a good place to explore Eastern European cuisine if you're curious. It’s likely one of the better options you'll find in the US.

Great food and experience, perfect spot on the lower east side. They have the best honey cake.
