Thai Diner - New York

The restaurant has a charming atmosphere, and the food is absolutely delicious. Our server was fantastic, providing us with a thorough walkthrough of the menu along with helpful suggestions.

Thai Diner is decent, but here are my recommendations if you're considering a visit: definitely make a reservation, head there only if the wait is under 40 minutes when the weather is nice enough for a stroll, and aim for a wait of less than 20 minutes if the weather is awful. If you can, try to come for a later brunch so you can sample the renowned egg sandwich. If you're up for some heat, order the yum kai hua pli (spicy roast chicken) in sandwich form. The khao soi is excellently prepared, boasting rich flavors and crispy noodles, though it could use a bit more chicken. The pad see ew and pad thai were good, but they didn’t stand out. As for dessert, Uncle Boon’s famous coconut sundae was underwhelming; it was smaller than I anticipated and didn’t deliver the bold flavor I was hoping for.

What a wonderful spot for brunch or lunch! The atmosphere is delightful, and the food is fresh and top-notch. I was particularly impressed by their Coconut Tea—what a lovely surprise! Thank you, Thai Diner!

The service was excellent! Shelly was great. Table of 3 waited a little over an hour on a Saturday around 1pm. First time there. Food was great. We will be back.
