Shinsen was phenomenal. The food Salmon Osaka) was great. Sushi was super fresh. Service was excellent. The owner brought out a complimentary appetizer and chatted with us. The entire staff was super friendly. Highly recommend!
I eat a lot of sushi and love to find a place that does something original AND delicious. This was it. Fresh, organic ingredients in complex and delicious pairings. really special!!!
Shinsen Bowery was above my expectations. While searching for a place for my girlfriends birthday, I stumbled upon a new sushi restaurant in the bowery. The reviews and the article I had read solidified my choice in dining. We traveled from New Jersey to Shinsen. The owner Tony, and all of the wait staff were phenomenal and I would highly recommend and return to this restaurant. The Ahi Tuna Tower Kobe were two of our favorite dishes. Thank you Shinsen for the memories, we will be back soon.
Shinsen is new to the neighborhood and you can tell it’s trying to do something different. The space is very open and thoughtfully designed. There is a matcha bar in the front, and a long sushi bar where you are face to face with chef who is who’s every move is done with intention. We got the sashimi salad which was really fresh and flavorful. We got it with the red chili sauce that is homemade by the owner’s mother who was behind the bar cooking. There are four main Omakase options on the menu. We got the first one which is the least expensive and has a lot! I think that if they changed the style to give you one roll at a time, instead of all of the rolls at once, they could probably charge a lot more like other Omakase places. Everything had amazing flavors. They are getting their liquor license next week so jump on you last opportunity to BYOB to this amazing new spot. The owner, Tony, came over and chatted with us throughout our meal. He was really friendly and excited about the possibilities of the new spot. After the meal, because of our experience, we were left with the feeling of “we must do everything we can to make sure this place is here for a long time.” Go there.
