Having tried Georgian food in DC, I was ready to have it NYC. We looked for a place near that evening's ultimate destination Open table offerred Oda House. It had good reviews and an interesting menue. We chose well. The food was excellent and very fresh. Portions were generous. The space was understated and casual. The Napoleon for dessert was an inventive and tastey surprise. Service was good and honest. We asked if ordering a special bread would be too much food. The advice was solid. We'll be back. I wouldn't be surprised if that's frequently.
First, as far as eating is concerned. we ordered the megruli (amuse, simple pizza like court sans red sauce and with lots of cheese) and adjaruli (as a cheese boat from a friend, with a kitschigen dive in the middle of a brotes; I did not love so much personally, but was also very good) to share; I had the mtswane lobio (green beaning, cooked with white tweebels, and for wein I had maranuli tsitska, a white wine for which I knew nothing (and still knows) but was crunchy and smooth and perfectly cooled and everything I was looking for in a white wine. secondly, with regard to literally everything else. it was just bad. the service was apathetic all night and it was painful to get the bill. when it came, it had been mistaken on him two great fees not made by us that we only discovered after our cards run. I would have thought it would have been a simple solution, but we had to wait the old one and as a solution was not found yet, accept a partial refund on one of the cards. a little damper on what was a delicious meal!
Amazing eating! super friendly service! just a bit cold/drafty in winter.
We love Oda house. I’ve actually been to Georgia and the food is authentic and delicious!
