More like 3.5I'm not the biggest fan of spicy Sichuan food in general, but my friend was visiting from outta town and was craving spicy Chinese food. Decided to give this place a try while we were walking around. My friend liked the food, but for me everything was bit too heavy/oily. All the dishes were heavily seasoned with strong spices and herbs so if that's you thing, go for it!About 5/6 tables inside for dining in.Service was friendly.
Can’t say it’s good… The Mala noodle and Hot Spicy (glass) Noodle uses exactly the same broth and ingredients (ground pork, scallions), while the latter is really really sour… Oh and it’s so slow that took maybe 20min waiting even there’re literally no other customers. Their spicy sauce add on that you can ask for is the only highlight, fragrant and not too spicy. It can definitely improve.
This restaurant is a must try when coming to NYC. The food is amazing and the noodles are made fresh right there in the restaurant. All the soups have their own broth recipe too. I got a mushroom and chicken soup with the large flat noodles. It was perfect! The chicken was really flavorful and the noodles were simply amazing. I also had the steamed pork buns. I think that these are also a must try. The spices are very rich and I didn 't think it was too spicy either when I tried my friends spicy dish that she ordered. The atmosphere is quaint and the staff are very helpful and friendly. Definitely stop by and try this spot; it 'll become your secret favorite hidden gem.
This place is so magical. I don't know else to say. Other than that the only waitress is very nice.
