Calle Dao Chelsea - New York

The highlight of this restaurant was definitely the hostess, who was extremely accommodating to our group. The menu seemed promising, but I found the food to be rather disappointing. The dish I ordered, the ceviche, was overly sweet and had very little fish in it. Additionally, having to cut up my own duck and assemble it in the bao bun was not the best dining experience. It felt quite off-putting. The bartender also made eye contact with me twice, yet continued chatting with his friend while I was trying to get his attention to order a drink before happy hour ended. New York has so many better options.

Chinese-Cuban fusion—what else could you ask for?! This place boasts a beautiful atmosphere and absolutely delicious food. I highly recommend checking it out!

The food was quite greasy, but we really enjoyed it nonetheless. We were a group of four and ordered Goat Neck, pig ears, a Cuban roll, noodles, empanadas, and yellow rice with chicken. Everything was pretty tasty. Overall, I would rate the food a 5 out of 5!

Great happy hour deals — loved the lechon on tostones. Ceviche was also really good! For our mains we got the paella and the Cuban fried rice which were just okay (the fried rice was too salty for our taste). I made a note on the reservation that it was my partners’s birthday and they surprised him with a brownie at the end. So sweet! Beautiful decor as well.

A large group of us coworkers recently dined in during their happy hour, and we had a great time. The place wasn't too packed. There were a few couples having an early dinner on the main floor, while we dined in the elevated portion (upstairs) of the restaurant. The servers were professional, and our party enjoyed our drinks. The atmosphere vibe is a mix between classy, intimate, yet unpretentious. They also have single stall restrooms. I would probably give the food 4.5 stars (tostones could have been a little less dry), but the overall experience was good.
