Agora Taverna - New York

I have been visiting this restaurant for a while now, and it has become one of my favorites. The Greek cuisine is genuinely authentic, and some dishes take me back to my childhood flavors. I also appreciate that the managers often come by the table to ensure that everything is satisfactory, which occurs nearly every time I dine here.

For my main course, I ordered the seafood pasta, which featured shrimp, calamari, and a white wine garlic sauce. We also decided to try the Moussaka, made with eggplant, potatoes, and a savory meat sauce. The seafood pasta was enjoyable, though the seafood was slightly overcooked and a bit rubbery. However, the pasta itself was cooked to perfection. I hadn't tried a white wine and olive oil sauce before, but I think I prefer this combination in a marinara sauce instead; the clear sauce felt a bit plain to me. The manager recommended the popular octopus dish, which we didn't try this time. The eggplant in the Moussaka was excellent, complemented well by the hearty meat sauce, and the potatoes were delightful, especially in the lemon sauce. To top off our meal, we were treated to a complimentary dessert, which was a rich, creamy custard.

The owner, Pete, joined us for lunch. I enjoyed Cajun salmon, lemon potatoes, and broccoli, along with a glass of Prosecco Griffa, and for dessert, I had Galactobureko.

The food we experienced was exceptional. We started with grilled octopus, which was incredibly tender and juicy! The branzino was also excellent. For dessert, we enjoyed Greek dolce and Greek tea, both of which were fantastic! Overall, both the food and service were outstanding. Rating: 5/5.

We started with the octopus and spinach appetizer, followed by shared lobster spaghetti. Everything was delicious and bursting with flavor, seasoned perfectly with just the right amount of salt. The mini muffins were delightful as well, and they even gave me some extras to take home. We're thrilled to have discovered this gem in our neighborhood. I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. It's also a great value for your money. Cheers!
