We have been frequenting Rozzini's for quite some time. The food has always been very good and pretty consistent. Friendly and for the most part timely service. Last night nine of us arrived to celebrate a birthday. A cake was brought in to end the dinner with. To our surprise when the bill was brought there was an additional open food charge of $9. Brenda told us it was a $1 per plate for the cake that we brought and said that we were informed of this when it was brought in. We paid it but I wish to inform you that we were not pleased. We have never been to another restaurant that has done this. The owners should sit back and rethink this as the restaurant is rarely full as the location is off the beaten track. We have always recommended and taken new people there as we felt it was worthy of getting the word out. Unfortunately, this "plate fee" will now make us think twice if we wish to go there! Rozzini Owner's you really shot yourself in the foot with this one! You need more customers and this will not help bring them in the door!
My brother and I tried out Rozzini's for the first time on a Sunday night, using an entertainment voucher. It was a pleasant surprise. Firstly, we wanted a quieter space, so we could chat. It was like the hall of the mountain king. Large and spacious. They had a buffet that was very fairly priced at $16 per adult. However, we opted for the double meat Neptune Dinner which was filling and tasty. Okay, some bread at the beginning would have given us even more of the sated feeling for very little extra cost to the business, but hey, we weren't complaining, it was a good sized meal at a reasonable price. We liked the multi-varied meal choices. I was somewhat disappointed that the soup of the day had run out (the door). The Tiramisu was simply delicious and nicely proportioned. Very fresh and moist. The waitress was charmingly attentive, without being invasive. It's also always a more enjoyable experience dining experience when the server has a friendly and welcoming personality -- as she had. I wish I would have asked her name, but I'm certain the management knows who I am referring to. She had black curly hair tied in the back. Okay, she forgot the hummus and pita, but that was as much our fault for getting a little lost in some banter with her. Although always immediately writing an order down, even if the straightforward order can be committed to memory, is a worthy backup. Regardless, she was a keeper in our opinion. . . . I wasn't sure about the buffet. It had a nice variety, but it wasn't extensive, nor did it include beverage and dessert choices. However, for $16 and all you can eat, what can one expect? The weather was not good when we went, and the number of people in the restaurant was rather thin; thus, the management probably lost out financially on the additional Sunday buffet. Maybe having buffets on special times/occasion/holidays (with more advertising) would be more cost effective. Perhaps more combination dinners -- all you can eat -- could replace the buffets. Or just simply more combination dinners for those who just like variety. The restaurant was very clean throughout. Parking was no problem. . . . My brother gave the restaurant a 8.5, and my out of 10 rating would surely be in the same territory. PS. My brother thought that the starter salad on special was a very good price, flavourable, and not needing a magnifying glass to see.
The four of us really enjoyed a excellent meal here. The ladies had Greek pizza (fantastic ). I had ribs and spaghetti (very tasty ). My son had top sirloin of which he really enjoyed. Very nice atmosphere. Wonderful servers.
Rozzini's can be found in a lesser known area of New Westminster, Queensborough. I discovered it while lost - true story. I like to tuck myself away here when city traffic is insane, and I need a break from my commute, as the turn off is between the Queensborough bridge and the Alex Fraser bridge. I usually enjoy the lamb shoulder, and there is always enough left over for another meal. I also like the spanakopita. The servers are always attentive and friendly, and they go the extra mile. The decor is lovely, and I usually have the place pretty much to myself. I eat and work until the traffic clears.
