Had a meal here a few weeks back. Needs to be booked well in advance but worth the wait. Friendly and knowledgeable front of house staff. The food was simply unreal and extremely good value for money. Can't wait to visit again!!
This was our fourth visit and we’ll keep coming back. We stayed overnight, as they have only three rooms you need to book well in advance. The rooms are small (except room 1) but beautifully appointed and with everything you might need. There is a little treat left in each room which we didn’t dare eat afraid we wouldn’t spoil our meal but we had a nibble and now I’m raging I forgot to take the rest home.. The dining room is intimate and you have your table for the night. No one is rushing you in this haven. The service is perfection. I have never seen a more professional service oh and that’s service with a smile. We had an absolutely charming Spanish woman serving us and her energy and sense of fun was contagious. The food, the food. It is simply superb. Billy and the kitchen crew craft wonderful, tasty and top notch dishes that are impressive, delicious and large enough to have you waddle out after the final course they are also really well priced.I had crispy monkfish to start that was delicate and had an Asian feel to it. My wife had the quail breast with Dublin bay prawn scampi. Both were really excellent. I had the brill for mains and my wife the hake. Perfectly cooked and sauced. The veg was absolutely delicious so fresh and crisp. I am so often let down with veg in restaurants, but not here. We had a lovely selection of cheese with port for the third course which rounded the evening off beautifully . Before dinner my wife had one of their wonderful cocktails, Nelsons blood and I had a lovely craft lager. We enjoyed a lovely Portuguese white with dinner. The breakfast I have said this before and I say it again I would drive to Aldridge Lodge for the breakfast alone , it’s that good. I had pan fried cod with poached eggs and my wife had free range eggs with gubeen chorizo on toast with beetroot spinach and yogurt, it shouldn’t work but she was ecstatic. A wonderful experience with wonderful hosts. Please don’t go we want it all to ourselves.
A beautiful place, wonderful ambiente, great eating great staff couldn't mistake it! I also made a fuss of my birthday, which was a nice note:
We had the most wonderful meal last night in the aldridge lodge! we were a group of 8, which served eating was exquisite, the ambiente perfect and the personal was attentive and yet inconspicuous. very recommended and good worth our hours drive.
