Skappo - New Haven

If you don't mind sticky table tops, slow service, small portions, and tasteless carbonara, then this is the restaurant for you. However, if you're looking for a better dining experience, I recommend trying one of the many excellent Italian restaurants in the Wooster Square area instead. I am baffled by how this restaurant received a rating of 4.9 in their reviews.

I’ve never written a review for a restaurant before but i just finished eating dinner here and everything was phenomenal! the service is what really made our experience that good.

What a great hidden gem in New Haven. I would definitely recommend it. Food and service was great. We especially loved it when Momma came out of the kitchen and stopped at every table.

Most authentic Italian food I have had . Excellent service . Anna comes around to every table and is so loving and friendly . Her daughter is just like her . Will definitely be back with the rest of the family

We visited Skappo for my birthday yesterday and our initial walk in the door we were greeted by this lovely woman who cleared a table immediately so we were not waiting long. Then mom (we know from the great introduction) came over to say hello and commented on my necklace. The food was so good and it was like we were at Nonna's house!! We started with the antipasto and the stuffed figs. So glad we chose both because those stuffed figs alone were worth the trip back. For our entrees I got the bolognese and my husband got the ziti with a creamy sausage sauce, both were delicious!!! It is worth the trip and we know we will be making return visits!!
