As a result, we were seated at a crammed table in a corner. The scones we ordered were massive but undercooked, with the consistency of wet cement. The jam was served in small commercial pots. The service was apathetic.
The Rosie was a new experience for me. The positives were the delicious sandwiches and cakes. We were served two scones each, but the prices were a bit high. Unfortunately, we would have had to pay extra for a second coffee or tea. Overall, it was a nice place, but it wasn't extraordinary enough to make me want to go back or recommend it to others.
I went to the restaurant on a Sunday and it wasn't very crowded. The service was fast, but the prices were high - £9.50 for a sandwich and £7 for soup. The soup came with just one slice of half-toasted bread and no butter. The soup itself was bland and lukewarm, and I had to add two sachets of pepper and one of salt to make it edible. Overall, not good value for the money. I was disappointed, as it seems like the quality has declined since Covid. While I understand that costs have gone up, I still believe that providing good value to customers is important. Honestly, I'm not sure if I'll be returning to this place.
A celebratory Afternoon Tea with friends was a delightful occasion. The quality and quantity of sandwiches, cakes, treats, teas and coffees was so good and presented so artistically. There were a few of us and we all had plenty of room in the heated marquee. The staff were always smiling and happy to help and made the occasion very special. Thankyou.
I have visited Rosie Lea House several times this months because it is so good. The first time was a brunch with friends during a walk followed by a breakfast visit for fantastic eggs benedict and later a coffee with my mother. For a coffee or tea visit, they have a fabulous selection of cakes.
