The place is really damp ,humid and smelly . They took the booking for lunch and then we were pushed into the other restaurant saying it is the same . The piano man. The food was ok but the service was not so good.
Threw a small cocktail party for 15 people at Dirty Apron and had an amazing time, everything was just perfect. The service was impeccable, the food was tasty (especially the pesto pizza and churros), and the drinks were well made. Special thanks to Rahul and his team for taking special care of my guests with complete professionalism. Would definitely recommend!
Safdarjung Market houses the very popular The Piano Man which was the first one to come up in the market and slowly the other cafes in the market started emerging. The Piano Man also offers Dirty Apron which is their experimental kitchen and located just above it. The ambience here is a totally opposite to The Piano Man. Its bright and easy to the eyes with the natural light flowing in and the light colours used. Its interiors have a very rustic touch teleporting you to a Tuscan café in Italy. The hanging lights over each table look gorgeous and the seating options are very comfortable. They also have a balcony but that is only for smoking and has a standing option and does not offer any seating which is definitely a bummer. Our lunch began with a hearty “Avocado Toast Platter” which had three different bruschetta with a common base of avocado paste and then one topped with spinach leaves and mango paste, one with cherry tomatoes and goat cheese and the last one with pickled veggies. These were easily the best bruschetta I’ve had in a very long time and truly heaven for avocado lovers. Post this, we ordered “Do-It-Yourself Tacos” which came in as a beautiful platter, had a bouquet of sauces, taco shells and red beans. It was fun to prepare the tacos as per our own preferences. The taste was great too. Moving to the main course, constantly looking at their wood fired oven, we were enticed to order a wood fired pizza and it was just terrific. They were very accommodating and agreed for a half and half pizza with combining “Pizza Con Patata” and “Verdure”. Pizza Con Patata were basically potatoes on pizza which sounds very different and weird and that is the reason we went with it and were totally amazed by it. Could never have imagined that potatoes could work as topping on a pizza. Verdure had the usual toppings of broccoli, mushrooms, bell peppers etc. We also ordered “Grilled Szechuan Tofu with Udon Noodles” which had huge pieces of grilled tofu with a base of spinach and udon noodles. The combination which was a bit on the spicier side was very healthy and again tasted fantastic. The drinks accompanying our meal were “Orange Sunrise” and “Islander”. Both were very refreshing especially in the kind of heat, Delhi has started witnessing recently during the afternoons. The presentation was simple with nothing over the board. We ended our meal with a “Blueberry Cheesecake” which was looked gorgeous and tasted pretty good too. Though we would have liked the biscuit base to be a bit more crispy. The blueberry sauce though was brilliant. The service here was simply incredible. The stewards always had a smile on their face while serving us and the manager too was taking a keen interest in making sure his guests leave with a happy face. They were also open to customizations which is always a plus. Overall, Dirty Apron at the Safdarjung Market offers a very pleasing and a peaceful environment which is in stark contrast to The Piano Man just below it which is known for pulling huge crowds and its famed Jazz nights. The rust ambience topped up with some lip smacking delicacies makes Dirty Apron a must visit. Highly Recommended!
Good cocktails, good food, good ambience and music, good service.. Worth going back again.
