Food was well wrapped and hot (we live 20km away from Nerang).Dishes were delicious - butter chicken, lamb korma, chicken tikka masala, rice, naan and pompadums. The only thing I didn't like was the pompadums - not sure what oil they had been cooked in but they had a strange taste.First time with Aromas of India and I'd definitely order again. I'm surprised at some of the negative comments because our experience was very good (and had I read the reviews first I wouldn't have ordered).
I ordered a vegetable korma (mild with Paneer chesse) for myself and beef korma (moderate) for my sister, she went and picked this up and said their was no one at the counter when she got there and she stood there for a while before someone came to give her the order. As for the food, it was a complete waste of time there was no taste in either dishes or spice, it was very creamy but tasted like it had just been filled up with store bought cream. My dish was so oily and even though they were both kormas they had a complete different colour, texture and taste, one was brown the other was yellow, her korma had some taste to it but nothing like you would expect at an Indian restaurant especially for moderate heat, was very bland and could cook at home with a packet sauce. I also had a cheese naan bread which again was very oily (although most are given it is melted cheese) but this was a bit over the top. I also do not know where the Paneer was at all, it must have been mixed into the sauce because there was no sign of it and other places usually there are nice chunks of paneer that you can see but this had nothing. This could be why it seemed so creamy but I would have expected to at least see little bit of paneer if it was mixed but it was a smooth sauce. Was basically like having a creamy yellow sauce with no taste on rice - pointless.
I cannot express enough how disappointed I was apon the delivery of my dinner yesterday evening. My 'butter chicken' came with a piece of cling wrap inside the curry. My poppadoms didn't even snap, more like bend they were so stale. Naan bread was burnt to a crisp. I fought for 2 hours to get a refund. the manager told me 'he didn't have time to talk to me' 'he didn't know why I couldn't have a refund' and 'its not his problem I don't like the food.' Though I had not eaten more than a mouthful of it they refused to collect it and I had to go through eatnow.com whom I ordered it with and ask them to contact the restaurant several times until I finally cracked the management and got my full refund. Disgusting place. Don't waste your time!
Ordered take away online. was very good. had enough spice and heat to immediately differentiate itself from the bland western indian in australia. someone recommended the malai kofta on a review, which we tried. never had it before and will certainly be ordering it again, was wonderful. the lamb rogan josh was plain though. all in all, i'd certainly return here.
Oh my the food is lovely. Truly genuine Indian food. They have great lunch specials and are open from 11am 7 days a week. I have never seen so many naan breads, wow. Very reasonably priced and the staff couldn't be more helpful. Also the chairs are the most comfortable that I have sat in for ages. It's BYO and there is a bottle shop a couple of doors down. They also do take away. A great find.
