Maharaja Indian Restaurant - Nedlands

The best Indian food I have eaten. I left feeling satisfied but not too full. Nice to be able to get some steamed vege to balance out the richer dishes. The restaurant also has reasonably priced drinks. Leave some room for dessert, it was the highlight. Especially the carrot pudding.

This place looks great! The decor is really nice and the chairs are comfortable and the staff are attentive. We ordered the Butter chicken which was tender and delicious although a little sweet. The Lamb Karahi was falling apart and the sauce was tasty but was lacking abit of heat. The Palak paneer was the absolute standout!! Beautifully baked ricotta in an amazing spinach and spices sauce. And its BYO! Winner!

Food was ok but letdown by a female staff member (the manager?) who made us feel really uncomfortable and tried to get us to leave immediately after eating in a not very subtle way... Bringing the bill which we hadn't asked for, and then coming back and saying 'are you ready to pay now' 5 minutes later. Then continually eyed us up after we paid until we left (on a quiet Tuesday night no less, with all of 3 occupied tables). Pretty rude really.. and no 'thank you' or even eye contact once we paid. Service really let them down. Shame as the curry was (overpriced but) nice.

We enjoy going to Maharajah! The staff are genuinely welcoming and that sets the mood. Good range of dine-in and take-away dishes as well as the expected condiments. I prefer the tomato-based sauces to their creamy ones. We are working our way through the beef and chicken menus and enjoying everything so far. Great flavours and textures. Only downside - sometimes the naan has been burnt which is disappointing, and samosas can have an overly salty tang as if they have been dusted with salt.

Love love love this place. My wife and I decided to break our fast with the delicious offerings at Maharaja. The service was exemplary and a delight to behold. The stuffed deep fried chilis are insane. Vindaloo could have been hotter but I have burnt most of my tastebuds off over the years with my love of spice! I can't rave about this place enough.... do yourself a favour and make a booking. AAA+++ WILL ALWAYS BE BACK FOR MORE
