Tamarind - Neath Port Talbot

The best Indian food I've had in Swansea! I've been coming to this restaurant for years, but ever since the new manager arrived, the food has gone from good to amazing.

I ordered takeout and it arrived hot and on time. The prices have gone up, but so has everyone else's. It's still a good value. The service was very friendly.

Best Indian experience ever! Although we go to the Tamarind most weeks tonight we tried their Chicken Gurkali for the first time. Hot but not too hot, absolutely delicious. Accompanied by thick Taka Dal (ask for it thick) and a cucumber raitha. Yum!

I’m sorry to be writing this 5 weeks after our meal but I’ve been away. There were 5 of us having an evening meal on a Sunday evening. We were sat almost opposite the kitchen. As I’d no cash on me we went for the usual menu (cash only on the one on the deal) but that didn’t bother me. We had absolutely no problem with any of the food, as usual it was delicious. My problem was with the service and the behaviour of other customers, which was not policed by the staff. A group of young men were brought by the waiter to sit a long side of us. There were 7 of them. Three were put each side of the table. And the 7th person was put on the end of the table, which blocked my access. For instance, when I got up to go to the loo the young man had to move. He then sat back down and had to move again on my return. This of course was a health and safety issue. If there had been a fire (we were sitting opposite kitchen). I’d not have been able to get out. Anyway our meals arrived and as I’ve already said there was no problem with the food. The young men who were seated very close to us became noisy and their language was atrocious. They were so noisy conversation on our table became impossible. I’m quite sure their parents would have been totally embarrassed by the effing and jeffing their conversation was littered with. We left without a second drink, which we would normally enjoy as our evening was totally ruined.

As always the food is delicious and they are always willing to vary the degree of ‘heat’ of some of the more fiery dishes. Having carried out some maintenance recently I can confirm that the kitchen is absolutely spotless and a credit to the staff and management.
