To Porto - Nea Makri

The first few times I came here they had excellent food and some nice alternatives. Service was ok but not warm or friendly. Usually the owner lady had an expression like death warmed up. But since I liked the food I started to recommend this place. However last night I invited guests here, we were the only table. Considering I had recommended the place it was very embarrassing. The octopus and squid were chewy this time, service was embarrassing. There was a group of 5 or 6 people inside who were owners or friends of owners gossiping and when we needed something it felt like we disturb them. They forgot one of our dishes, we had to keep reminding them to bring serving spoons for the dishes. It was like they didnt care. I have found this all over nea makri, they have the worst service. The Now they have lost a customer who was regular and a decent tipper. I found a better seafood place in Mati, a few km away, forget Nea Makri they only want to cheat you and dont understand hospitality. The final straw was trying to charge us 1 euro for olive oil. Apparently its the law. There are other solutions. However smoking inside which is also illegal is ignored, so this just proved their greed to me.

Really good seafood. I had one of the off the menu dishes and it was so tasty. They have English menu and speak pretty good English, so don't be afraid of going if you don't speak Greek. I will definitely go back soon.

This is where the restaurant owners go when they want a meal out. No frills, good food.
