John King Grill Dueling Piano

The bar staff/security does not protect the women. If they don’t see it- it didn’t happen. I have emailed as asked below twice without a response. Clearly not interested in discussing further as trying to show We went to the piano bar and were having a great time. The band is wonderful. We didn’t have much to drink at all and were mainly dancing up front. A very large man came up from a table up front and started dancing inappropriately on us. We tried to stop dancing, change positions, and eventually asked another man just to stand behind us to shield so he couldn’t touch me. The inappropriate man started dancing up on him (the nice guy) aggressively enough that he got shoved into the stage and then threatened that he (aggressive guy) was going to kill him (the nice guy) outside later. Security was told by us and the other nice group who tried to help and nothing was done. The man got to stay even after all of that, and we all left because we don’t mess around when violence/killing is threatened. The security and staff did not handle this appropriately, and I absolutely did not feel safe. It’s a shame.

First off, the dueling piano guys were amazing and it was a really great time. The hostess was also wonderful. I would highly recommend- if you're a guy or you come in a large group and have large guys with you for protection. However- We were singing and dancing in front of the stage, enjoying the awesome performers, until a guy got up and started dancing on us inappropriately and pushing us around. We tried to shift and keep having fun, but he was easily 2-3 times our size. We asked a group dancing near us for help, so they tried to shield us. In response, the big dude knocked the guy shielding us over into the stage. He then grabbed the guy who was shielding us on the shoulder and threatened to kill him. We went to get security, but they said they couldn't do anything. So he got to stay and we had to leave checking over our shoulder to make sure he didn't decide to leave and follow us. Again, the musicians were awesome, but terrifying experience that security did not address, so I cannot in good conscience recommend women go here.

This bar charges a $10 cover , which is fine…. But then when you pay at the door 1 the money takers ask for a tip …. Ummm..so I’m shamed into giving a tip to the person sitting on a chair at the front door taking my money? This tipping for anything and everything is crazy. I always tip 25% 35% to all my servers no matter the service but this tipping for nothing is getting out of hand. Other than that … my drinks and waitress were awesome .

Great service, Jacob was great. The food was delicious!

Very happy place in Charleston to stop for great food, atmosphere and service. Jakob was outstanding. He was personable and very attentive. Food came hot and fast and Jakob made our experience memorable.
