Wilkes Wings - Nashville

A local resident recently suggested we try Big Al’s Deli and Catering for an authentic taste of southern Nashville. Tucked away in a charming house in the Germantown neighborhood, we were glad we arrived with appetites. We indulged in several favorites served on generous plates, including fried catfish, meatloaf, and a cheeseburger, all accompanied by comforting sides of green beans, cornbread, mashed potatoes, and cinnamon apples. Everything was incredibly delicious and left us feeling satisfied both physically and spiritually. Big Al’s offers breakfast and lunch specials, except on Sundays.

It took some time to get our food, but it was a nice, relaxed atmosphere. A man band was playing some lovely music. The breakfast was amazing and very reasonably priced.

You wouldn't believe the portion size of the breakfast! My partner had a massive T-bone steak and eggs—definitely more than you'd expect from such a quaint little spot.

Big Al’s is a tiny place in the middle of a neighborhood. If you get to the deadend sign you’ve just missed it. Parking is on the street. The employees are very nice and the service is good. I went for breakfast and the serve yourself coffee was surprisingly good. I had the bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit, and the hash browns. Both were excellent. Prices are very reasonable. The only downside for me is that the inside is hot as hades, so I had to deal with the flies outside.
