I was not expecting a large vat of food, but I left still hungry. I am one who likes the sauce that stir-frys come with. I like to let the rice soak it in. Sadly, the sauce was lacking. I ordered "extra, extra, extra spicy". They made some effort, but fell quite short. What I liked:My order was not right off the menu, but they accommodated my special request without question. The small egg roll that accompanied the lunch special was quite tasty and the best part of my meal. The service was quite good.I live quite a ways from Green Hills, so I most likely would not go back there. Even if it were close by, I think I may go elsewhere.
My review is based on some lunch menu visits as we have not sampled the more extensive dinner menu. But, I think I've got a pretty good feel of Chinatown. First, the pluses. They are pretty much making their own food and not relying solely on pre-made food service entrees. The inside is nice, our service has been good. Friendly and attentive. Lunch combo pricing is competitive. Now, the minuses. Spicy dishes aren't. In fact, its all been pretty light on flavor. The egg rolls are the size of cigarettes and don't have much going on. The fried rice only differs from the white rice by a splash of soy sauce. One of the things I had - Mongolian Beef - should have been labeled Mongolian Onions. Very little beef and pretty oily. Overall, I'd say Chinatown is a clean, attractive restaurant that delivers pretty bland food that won't offend many, unless they're looking for a more authentic flavorful Chinese dining experience.

Good spot.. When they say fresh fish they are not pulling your leg. They keep live lobster and fish and my fish still had the "I thought I was your pet?" look on it's face. That had no effect on me because the fish was delicious! Really good sauces; just the right viscosity and very savory. Pleasant service. Oh yeah, the portion sizes here = plan B for lunch the next day.
The only place for Chinese in Nashville. There's nothing not to love about Chinatown, especially now that it boasts a beautiful, renovated dining area and an updated menu with tasty and authentic Chinese dishes. The new menu also offers dishes at a variety of sizes and a broad range of prices, allowing the diner to feast or snack as he or she pleases. The servers here are always pleasant and attentive. I wish I could eat every meal here.
