The Star Cafe

Well, my husband and I decided to go out to the Star Cafe for supper. We walked in sat down waitress brought the menu. Several steaks had been taken off the menu per new owner). Also baked potatoes off the menu now. Salads have changed to string lettuce instead of tossed.Chicken fried steak had zero taste. Several salad dressings had been taken off menu. We asked for manager so she could give feedback to owner. Her name is Missy, she got offended instead of caring what customers had to say.Needless to say we're out on going back to the Star Cafe and have been going there for years.Thanks Sondra Mike.

Decided to finally make my way in, and I’m so happy we did. I loved the atmosphere it was perfect for the stockyards. It was like being in a small town somewhere in Texas but right in the heart of the city. The service was great, but I was even more impressed with the food we got. We got the chicken fried steak with baked potatoes for the side. Everything literally melted in your mouth. The chicken fried steak was cooked perfectly, the batter was crispy and the steak wasn’t chewy like most restaurants. The baked potatoes were better than I have ever gotten anywhere. Prices were spot on with the quality of the food, even tho it was on the higher end. We will be back!Kid-friendliness: They had high chairs available and a small kids menu which was suitable for my kiddo.

The best burger is north Texas is no more. Looks like they have changed everything that was good here, this was terrible. I guess the new owners have ruined The Star.

I liked this place for a casual place to grab some food. We were at a business event and the fancier places had long waits. To be honest, I liked the quieter atmosphere because I just wanted to sit and talk. After I left town and was at the airport, I realized I didn't have my credit card. I called and Misty put it in the mail immediately which I greatly appreciated.

It would have been really nice to have a heads up on the hour and a half wait for the food. It would have totally changed things. But by the time our food finally came, we were very unimpressed by the extremely small burger we had decided to share. Not worth it for the price.
