Being so remote I guess it is hard to find the necessary resources to match the city comparasons that most of us are comfy with.So with that in mind the overall impression of this place is one of awe as far as the attraction goes, one of disappointment as far as the accommodation goes ( wafer thin walls in ensuite rooms that are probably smaller than most jail cells.) The tents are in the prime location on the river front but are not ensuite equipped. The ablution facilities are spotless and well maintained. Although we did not camp it seemed that most campsites are very well located although towing a van over 70 kilometers of unsealed road is a bit of a trial I would think. The food is basic but wholesome and is in fact way better than the food I was served up in boarding school 50 years ago....which one would expect. No one went hungry during our stay there and the staff were great. One piece of advice is that one needs a fair bit of loose change if you want to drink there! Good place to be a teetotaller I would think. The tours from here are nothing short of exceptional. The visit to Riversleigh Fossil Field was an eye opener and well worthwhile whilst the tours & boat trips of the gorges were just wonderful. The attraction for us was they do have a very good runway there and supply avgas. It is a great destination to fly into. The staff were again wonderful and were there to meet us when we landed and very helpful. Overall I would give this place a big tick and overlook the city service we all expect. It is a remote place and just possibly one of the nicest places in australia to see. If you want peace and quiet then it is definitely the place to be.
Yum! Great pizza and salad hereRight off crown and oxford.
Just off from Oxford Street on Crown Street, Mad Pizza serves some great thin-crust pizza! We came here at around 1pm on a Sunday and it was pretty empty.
Hmm ordered the seafood pizza.which wasn't quite cooked for some slices plus the ingredients were a bit stingy.
We were in donor-type accusation, divided between 2 women each (4 women in total). No hot water, so thanks to Jacko helped us with the actor manager to have access to another room for us showers. Unfortunately, the reception here is very limited, my...visa debit card has not worked at its Eftpos, so money had to be transferred via only rectification is in the actual office. All of French very arrogant to begin, The only Aussie here works Jacko he was excellent and really made our 3 days stay super! Restaurant closes at 7 pm! they have only offered hot chips... the prices are expensive here bring your own food!!!! would not recommend. Lots of space for your caravan, etc. The George himself please put this on your Bucket list this made our trip brilliant. We have kayaks for a few hours absolutely stunning and easy to do. Scene is so special. Too bad there were no real excuses working here, as customer service was little to none. The camp area/george is approx. 10klm by Adeles very hot, but toilets are here and clean.
