Eccezionale. Ambiente curatissimo, servizo impeccabile e cibo sublime.
I visited Taverna La Riggiola while I was in vacation in Naples, and I have to say I was not disappointed. This lovely restaurant not too far from the Neapolitan shoreline manages too maintain a delicate balance: it uses local ingredients to make traditional dishes, but with a touch of inventiveness that makes for a modern twist. For example, I ordered an octopus dish, a staple of the local area, but it was served on a bed of cous cous. In general, I would say that the fish dishes were delicious. As my main I had cod which was fried in a delicate batter. Living in London, I'd like to think I know a little something about fried fish, but this was simply another level. I'm no gourmet, but I can tell you that the wine was good and abundant! As far as atmosphere goes, everyone was very friendly. The proprietor came by our table to chat with us and to make sure everything was to our liking, so it had that touch of Italian friendliness that makes visiting so pleasant. All in all I would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a restaurant experience that is a little bit more sophisticated than the average local restaurant.
Having been to Naples may times, I decided to find a more local restaurant near our hotel near Via Partenope, on the waterfront. I found La Riggiola and we were very happy. On the way to dinner, I fell and bruised my knee. The staff were very accommodating when I arrived and gave me disinfictent and a bandage. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We started with Fried Zucchini Flowers and a really fresh crudo. Both were excellent. For our next course we chose a spaghetti with zucchini topped with some burrata and finely diced red shrimp crudo. just great. The other pasta course was fresh pasta with a medley of multi colored cherry tomatoes. excellent as well. Our wine selection was a Falanghina from the chef's sisters vineyard. Excellent and only 10 euros for the bottle. our dessert was a chocolate delight with berries and gelato. This was a wonderful meal in a really friendly environment that was extremely well priced. It is in a bit of a neighborhood away from the hustle and bustle of Naples, but it is well worth the effort to find it. it's not hard.
