For us, Hygge (pronounced hyoo-guh , will more be associated with the sounds we heard of wedding guests vomiting up the wretched meals forced down earlier from the lavatories above. The only blessing of those radiating vile sounds was that they were the only thing loud enough to drown out the sobs of a devastated bride. A special day ruined. Shame on you for the wedding you lay waste to and the barbarous treatment wreaked upon the bride. Shame! Shame! Shame! And may God have mercy on your soul. Food: 1 Service: 1 Atmosphere: 1
No sweet, all sour. Martin Rommel catered a wedding I attended at Vindeholme Castle in Denmark. I strongly recommend against using his services for the following reasons: 1. The food: lunch was a series of cold and raw dishes in 5 containers, as follows: 2 salads, 1 raw shrimp dish, 1 raw fish dish, and 1 raw lamb dish. These were very tasty and I enjoyed them. The dinner, however, was absolutely horrible. The dinner was broken into 3 parts: 1) appetizer, 2) main, and 3) dessert. The appetizer was a piece of raw salmon with radish shavings on top. The salmon was described as “smoked” as per the menu, so unfortunately I was not able to eat my appetizer I tried a bit, but a fillet of raw salmon with no flavour and a bit of raw radish was not tasty). People who chose the other appetizer option were served a tiny head of lettuce that was chopped in half. The main course I chose was the “confit beetroot” which ended up being a few cold pieces of root vegetables and some kale. The topping sauce was warm not hot), bland, and looked like sink water. At this point I was starving after being unable to eat my appetizer and left with roots for dinner. The idea of serving cold root vegetables is a poor example of a “vegetarian option” and shows weak culinary imagination. People who chose the other main option complained that their piece of pork was from the belly of the pig, which is a cheaper cut of meat and extremely fatty. The parts that were edible was described as unflavoured and salty. The dessert was a warm apple compote, a blob of ice cream, and a biscuit. The dessert was okay, but it wasn’t good. The ice cream was almost completely melted and the biscuit was soggy. It was mucky. There was a lot of apple compote on the plate, but the taste and texture reminded me of a basic apple sauce with poor taste and texture, which reminded me of hospital food. The best part of the dinner was the bowl of boiled potatoes, which were actually hot and cooked. The raw and uncooked nature of almost everything on the lunch and dinner menu got boring and was unsatisfying. 2. Service: We had a small wedding party of 21 people. The entire 3 course meal took way too long at least 2 hours or longer). There were long periods of waiting time in between each of the 3 meals served. When meals were finally served, we were not able to eat together as a family given the synchronization of the service was off and the meals were served at different times. 3. Unprofessional: The absolute worst thing that happened was how the contracting and billing was handled. The bride had asked Martin for a contract several times prior to the wedding, as she wanted everything settled in advance of the wedding. Martin did not send a contract until the morning of the wedding while she was getting ready. Obviously a bride on her wedding day does not have time in the morning to review or agree to a contract. At the end of the evening, the server presented the bride with the bill, which was double the agreed upon amount that was communicated via email). The server was also confused about the billing, so the owner/head chef Martin Rommel had to drive to the wedding venue. The bride and groom missed 2 hours of their wedding evening dealing with Martin in a separate room. The couple had kindly asked Martin to deal with the business the next day as they still hadn’t even cut their wedding cake. Instead, he demanded they pay double the price €4,000, approx kr 29,843) which is a complete scam price for 21 guests. He would not leave the venue and he intimidated the couple into paying. I can only describe it as a scam and a shake down. Yes, he provided a tiny discount given the poor communication on his end. However, the final amount was still outrageous, especially given the quality of food and service that was provided. This is not the way to conduct business. I travelled from Canada to this wedding in Denmark. Martin Rommel provided a terrible dinner and took away 2 hours of time I had enjoying the company of the bride and groom. Avoid at all costs. We stopped by Surt Sødt for dining week in week 42 and what an experience to come to Nakskov. 10 courses of honest food in Lolland portions, friendly local service and a wine menu they are not greasy with. Nothing has been splurged here, but emphasis has been placed on local produce and solid cuisine. Thanks for the food and a nice evening Service: Dine in Meal type: Dinner Price per person: kr 1,000+ Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5
While most of the meal was uninspiring it could generously be termed acceptable. The meat, however, was very undercooked and contained a giant blob of fat. The most sinister implications materialized the following day when I became violently ill. Could my illness be a coincidence? Who knows but why take the risk. Be warned. I didn 't get the food I ordered. I had ordered a dish that was described as topped with salt baked greens and vegetable broth . The meal I was served was topped with a pile of mushrooms and mushroom broth. I was very dissatisfied with both the taste and the presentation of the food. It was a very disappointing experience. I cannot recommend the food here, especially if you have allergies. It seems like the chef doesn 't care what you order and just serves whatever random ingredients he finds in his kitchen.
