I sampled their salmon special, bouillabaisse, and tuna, and all three dishes were absolutely delicious. Their drink options are excellent, and the service is top-notch. This is definitely one of my go-to places to eat, if not my absolute favorite. Make sure to check it out if you're craving some incredible seafood!
I found the scallops to be excellent, but the seaweed bedding was too tough to eat. My wife's shrimp and grits, her favorite seafood dish, lacked flavor and had too much liquid. My Sandbar special fish was quite tasty, but the oysters were over breaded and overcooked, served on a large pile of fries. The total cost of our meal, including tip, was over $100, which we felt was expensive given the quality of the food. We have decided to pass on visiting the Blue Moon next time and explore other dining options we have not yet tried. This review is written without using exaggerated or unhelpful terms to describe the experience. We focused on the food, service, and cost of the meal.Overall, we were disappointed by the decline in quality and cleanliness of the restaurant.
We went here 5+ years ago and had a wonderful experience, today we went for a late lunch and had another great meal. This is a specific spot that we stop each time we go to Outer Banks and I recommend it highly to anyone passing through. I again had theoysters and April had the crab cake, both were delicious and paired with excellent french fries. You are missing out if youenjoy seafood but skip this place, seriously.
We visited Blue Moon as a last minute decision on our final night in the Outer Banks. The food was delicious and there are a decent number of local beers on tap as well as unique cocktails to try. I would recommend arriving a little before the dinnerhour to get a table, as we were able to beat the crowd by coming at 5. There is quite a bit of seating inside and outside but itdoes fill up quickly. Service was great and the food was delicious. I highly recommend trying the Buffalo shrimp, which was adelicious twist on a classic wing appetizer. The fish tacos are pretty good, although they could have used a bit more seasoning.
The restaurant has a sign painted on the window saying "Food worth eating is worth waiting for", and indeed it is worth the wait to dine here. We arrived at 1:30 pm on a Monday and had to wait for an hour, but we were able to explore nearby shops and enjoy the outdoor seating while we waited. There was plenty of parking available. The service was friendly and they were able to accommodate our large group of 10 people. It took some time for the food to arrive after ordering, but it was all delicious and the portions were generous. The shrimp and oysters were particularly large, and the appetizers were perfect for sharing. The roasted brussels sprouts were incredibly tasty. I would recommend asking about the prices of items listed as MP on the menu to avoid any surprises on the bill. While the crab cake entree was $38.00, most other items on the menu were not nearly as expensive.
