The tacos were mostly coleslaw with very little fish, and the sauce was overwhelming, making it a bit chaotic. The little fish I could taste was tasty, though. I also ordered a mango daiquiri, but it didn't quite live up to my expectations for the price. I had read reviews before visiting, and they were part of the reason we chose this place. We were hoping to capture some great photos of Hollywood, and the setting did not disappoint. The prices were reasonable, and there was no pressure to buy anything. Our waitress was polite, but she seemed either unhappy or maybe just not very lively. On the other hand, the staff at the gift shop were incredibly nice and friendly. We bought a shirt that didn’t fit well and had to exchange it the next day, but they made that process very easy.
TOURIST REVIEW: We had a wonderful time at Pier 14. We enjoyed sitting on the terrace by the water while listening to live music. For our appetizers, we ordered the shark bites, which were quite delicious, though they could have used more spices to truly reflect 'cajun' flavor. For my entree, I had the sautéed Fantail Shrimp. The highlight of the dish was actually the potatoes I swapped for the fries. While the shrimp were decent, they also needed more seasoning to really stand out; a bit more butter or something extra would have made a significant difference. Overall, we had a great experience, and the food was acceptable. However, considering the hefty bill for two dinners and an appetizer, I was hoping for a bit more flair in the dishes.
Someone in our group ordered the Shark Bites appetizer, which aren't actually made from shark, but they were delicious. I decided to try the Duck Tacos, but I ended up receiving them in a 'shark' style. After a 20-minute wait for our party of 10, our meals arrived. The tacos were excellent, with a light fish flavor complemented by a rich coleslaw. All in all, when I return to Myrtle Beach, you can count on me visiting Pier 14 for more food and drinks. I would definitely recommend it! There's also a lovely pier that charges $1 for entry, along with a gift shop on site. Just keep in mind that the parking situation is a challenge. Ratings: Staff: 4 Stars, Food: 4 Stars, Wait Time: 3 Stars, Cleanliness: 4 Stars. Enjoy!
Pier 14 is one of our most popular places in Myrtle Beach and we stop there every year for lunch or dinner we visit! The food is amazing and so is the view/atmosphere. This year was our BEST experience! Thomas was our server and he made our visit so much better. He's very attentive, polite, friendly, just a stunning guy! I think first impressions are all, Thomas is a really big individual, with a huge heart, and he loves what he does. Hard worker, great conversation, we will be back and demand Thomas every time we visit! You should, because he makes the whole experience bigger, then you can imagine! Ask Thomas!
Went on Memorial day around 1pm. They don 't do reservations but luckily when we arrived they had a table for 11. Food was good. Hubby got Shrimp Po Boy looked amazing. My daughter got ravioli. I got shrimp tacos with veggie of the day instead of fries. The hush puppies should be called what they are corn fritters. Great with the honey butter. I was hoping they were like the hush puppies at red lobster back in the day. The shark bites were good. A little spicey with the seasoning for the kiddos. All in all it was good and our waiter was very attentive to our needs. Great pier with an amazing view. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked for a holiday....would definitely visit again.
