Okay firstly, ratings on Zomato can be deceptive and certain gems can be way too underrated, and Junior Kuppana is sadly one of those places, which somehow has been in the hiding in terms of ratings and reviews. <br/ <br/ I had this huge craving for hard core meat dishes and decided to have my food packed from this place. The mutton biryani is sensational and is very high on spice and the overiding aroma is of clove, cinnamon and cardamom. The mutton is tender and succulent, and on the whole this biryani leaves nothing else to be desired. The pallipalayam chicken, (which as they claim is made without any oil) is sinfully addictive and has the right blend of heat, with garlic and chilli kick, the chicken is itself perfectly cooked to juicy perfection and the addition of cocunut to the dish adds and extra dimension of flavour. It is surprising to see a dish that is so high on flavour being made without any oil, which also ensures that no unnecessary fat gets in the way of the natural flavour of the chicken. <br/ <br/ However the vanjaram fry and quail or kadai roast are the real deal clinchers. These two dishes are too good to be true. The vanjaram fry is coated in a spicy masala, which to me consists of chillies, garlic and turmeric and fried to perfection. The crispy skin on the fish takes it to a whole new level, with the fish holding shape really well during the frying process and gives it a very good texture. Inspite of the crispy exterior, the inner flesh is creamy and moist. An absolute fishy delight! <br/ <br/ The quail roast once again speaks volumes. The scent of curry leaves and dried red chillies is a sight to behold, and the quail is cooked with lots of caramelised onions, which adds a unique touch to the dish. The quail is handled in a perfect manner, and the bones too can be eaten without much fuss. The quail is a must try. <br/ The vegetarian fare though is'nt all too good. The kotthu parotta though stands out in an otherwise dull fare. What is a carnivores delight turns out to be a herbivores nightmare.
One of my foodie friends suggested me this. Their quantity is less compared to their price. Tried mutton nalli fry and mutton biryani.. awesome.. egg half fry was good. Paisam was avg. Service were prompt.
