We arrived at 10 p.m. on Saturday of Carnival weekend in February (talk about high season!), and despite an English language complaint about slow service. The evening was beautiful so we chose to sit outside. We enjoyed a wonderful 4 course meal over the course of 2.5 hours. OK 2 hours would have been better for me, but under the circumstances (including a quick power outage that crashed their billing computers) they did fine. Staff was attentive, and repeatedly apologized for delay or time passage. Highly recommended: Mundo seafood salad (huge, interesting); pork with soy and honey sauce (delicate flavor) and sauteed vegetables, Dorado fish (delicate, fresh). Prices reasonable. 15% discount for cash, at least as of today!
After waiting for more than an hour for our order, they brought us a wrong entree and mentioned that we should wait another half an hour for the main course.....avoid going there if you have no time to waist. Very unprofessional!!!
While vacationing in different parts of the world, I have never consiously gone to the same restaurant 2 days in a row. El Molino is the exception! As a Canadian who comes to Argentina at least once a year to visit my wife's family, I have dined in many restaurants in Cordoba and the small towns surrounding. Trip Advisor ranks El Molino as #1 in La Falda -- I would submit that this restaurant arguably would be one of the top restaurants in the entire region.Day 1. Started with a light palate cleansing complimentary soup, followed by meat empanadas. In a country famous for its empanadas, these stood out. The seafood salad was spectacular with wild greens, walnuts, capers, an assortment of shellfish and a mountain of smoked salmon. My wife's entree was an elegant cut of pork in a rich soy and honey sauce. Being a seafood addict, I went with the paella. I gourged and could not finish the plate -- the portions beyond generous. As Cordoba is inland, I was more than surprised with how the chef created such an outstanding array of seafood in the dish.Dessert was a fruit flambe in chocolate - decadent by definition.Day 2. We had to come back! A bruschette of serrano ham and greens hinted that yesterday's grand dining experience was no fluke. My wife went with the chicken in a delicious orange sauce. She raved about the accompanying side vegetables glazed in a caramel sauce. I wanted to see how the chef would handle octopus so I went with the Spanish style pulpo. Expecting to have a bit of a "chewing workout", I was astounded that it was fork tender! Dessert was a quality vanilla ice cream topped with berries and a surprise at the bottom with crunchy meringue crumbles and Bailey's.The quality of this small restaurant is magnified by the attention Claudio and his small staff give to their guests. It is truly an enhanced experience as Claudio, as busy as he is, freely engages in a discussion of the food, recipes, how he shops etc. Here is a proprietor who works hard at his craft and makes your time i his restaurant memorable and personable. A definite reason to retuen to La Falda!
Wonderful food and exceptional service. My new favorite restaurant in La Falda. The owner Claudio, made us feel very special and welcome. He is very conscientious about separating the gluten free meals from the standard menu. Large selection, and excellent preparation. Left feeling well and satisfied. Did not feel as though I had been "wheated" ( no cross contamination ) . The desert was a coconut and dulce de leche tart. Delicious change from flan.
