We had already been at Scala a few years ago, and we decided to dine there on our last night in Munich. The restaurant is operathemed, as the name indicates, with photos of opera grandees and chairs and decor reminiscent of opera houses. The menu...is very wide. We were given small pizza slices instead of bread. We selected Parma ham and melon for starters, and then two pasta dishes rigatoni with two different sauces. Everything perfectly done. Afterwards, just coffees. can't remember the price, but it was what we expected, high or thereabouts
We visited this restaurant with my husband on a sunday evening after wandering around the city. Service in english was poor and the waitress made a very little effort translating to us. We asked if they had any glutenfree dishes or pizzas. The owner of...the place?, an old man, arrived but didn't understand the question. Not even in german as the waitress explained to him what it means since she obviously knew. The man just shook his head and waved his hand and said something in italian. We were really hungry so we decided to stay even though I had a bad feeling of the place. I ordered a vegetarian pizza with garlic and my husband somekind of a steak they didn't have english menu except for the pizzas, so my husband couldn't be sure what he actually had. We also had glasses of red wine. The food took about half an hour to be served and it was a total disappointment. Pizza was dry and the stake was totally overcooked and also covered in some weird sauce. After we had drunk the wine it had left weird sugar? clumps on the side of the glass. I must add that while we were eating the old man walked around the restaurant yawning and scraching his behind once in a while in front of our table ! We had troubles with paying because we were told that they only accept cash. AFTER we were done! Maybe downstairs? Cash? said the waitress. The old man came back again, did this motion with his hands like pressing the card machine buttons and said We no beepbeepbeep and laughed. Well, I certainly wasn't amused. I had to put on my jacket and leave the restaurant to get the money. When I got back we politely asked for a possible discount for all the trouble and extra effort and since the food was not good at all which we had told them earlier but they weren't interested. The waitress didn't know what to say but translated the comment to the old man. He shook his head and said No no no no. I pointed out to the wine glass and the man said no no, good wine, good wine! We tried to explain that the service and food wasn't what we expected for over euros. We paid but we still didn't give up and counted the change we got. The man got tired of us, waved his hand aggressively and said Ciao! Byebye! and left! He actually LEFT and walked away to sit and read a newspaper in one of tables! I was absolutely horrified about the rude service. I'm not sure if it was because we didn't speak neither german of italian but this is not the way to treat a customer. And the food was horrible. Edible but not something we enjoyed at all, not to mention the surroundings and weird egyptian opera tvshow they were showing at one and rewinding it back to start when it finally ended. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone
El lugar está un poco escondido. Se llena rápido y puede no haber lugar. Muy acogedor y el personal muy correcto. Los platos son frescos y muy buenos. Solo efectivo (tarjetas no). Tiene una escalera bastante larga para subir (discapacitados imposible)
