Lovely intimate atmosphere, warm welcome by friendly waiter and, later, the owner, delicious meal - the ideal way to spend two hours before heading off to the Euro airport at Basel. The veal casserole was superb and my wife loved the onglet de boeuf. 3 course menu for 25 euros was very good value for superior food. Asolutely necessary to book as it holds only about 24 diners and to get there by 1 pm for lunch. Great way to end our stay in France.
We booked a table for two at Chez August for Saturday afternoon. It is a beautifully appointed, quaint little restaurant. The menu is short, which means the ingredients are fresh. The owner served us, he was extremely friendly and proud of his establishment. When we mentioned that our neighboring table had a delicious looking appetizer (which we had not chosen), he simply brought a portion for us - free of charge. This has never happend to me before in my life. What a customer friendly approach. The food was excellent, the chocolate fondant for dessert was to die for. Overall, an outstanding experience.
This is a tiny restaurant seats 25? It is a little gem - but you will need a reservation - DON'T GO WITHOUT. You will almost for certain be turned away. The food was excellent with limited choices and the service a bit on the slow side but you really want to savor the food so who cares. The price for a complete meal is modest to inexpensive
We arrived early and were lucky to find a table. The restaurant fits about 25 people and there is only one seating. Make a reservation. The food and service were excellent. We chose from the menu, the terrinde de canard was exquisite. The onglet de boeuf was cooked perfectly and the meat was very tender. My wife had the coquilles saint jacques that were also out of this world. We split a cheese plate and the "Auguste" chocolate dessert. We accompanied the meal with a local Pinot noir that was very interesting.
The food was fresh and very good, the service excellent (???? for the waiter!) The place is nice (a bit old style) but rather small and there are not many tables, so definitely book in advance.
