Instead of being labeled as the best of the Hispanic trucks (which it might just be), it gets pegged as 'worse than some restaurants ' that serve their style of cuisine. Let 's take a step back: this is a food truck, a mobile vendor dishing out quality food, not fine dining. Customers seemingly expect perfection, but few, if any, trucks are perfect. Oaxacan Kitchen is one of the few that come close. They offer food that most people can 't relate to their neighborhood taqueria, much less imagine coming off a truck. Moles, Tlayuda, salmon, Camarones con Chipotle you name it, and they may just have a mobile rendition of it on their rotating menu. Oaxacan Kitchen also offers an array of vegetarian and vegan options, various desserts, and a formidable array of tamales including Butternut Squash, Chicken Mole, and Black Bean. This truck gets a huge thumbs up for the variety of options and ingenuity shown on the menu ; it brings a new twist to the Mexican food we all know, love, and expect on the streets. <br/ <br/ Rating: 7.7/10
I recently learned about The Oaxacan Kitchen when they sponsored a local charity auction event for 'charity: water '. After checking out the excellent reviews I proposed this restaurant when my mother-in-law was in town and we had a baby-sitter. Since we hadn 't done much planning ahead, we didn 't have reservations. Apparently this is a popular place because all their inside seating was either taken or waiting for somebody with reservations. Fortunately for us, they had some outside seating with plenty of heating. We even got to meet the owner when he came out to help fire up the heaters. We quickly discovered that mole dishes were one of their specialty so had to order a few different ones. We were not disappointed. I would recommend trying the mole sampler dish, and calling ahead for reservations if you care to sit inside (the space is pretty small).
Nice food and great atmosphere and service. Mole is pretty good too! :
