Hacienda El Sombrero - Mount Prospect

Been going here for the last 20 years on New Years Eve, for dinner- we're in the early crowd about 5:30p. It's a family tradition. Seen the change in ownership and really liked the changes that were implemented. The place has seen some improvements on the inside but maintained the same feel. I have a lot of good memories here. Margaritas never disappoint. Food has been good but not great. Troubling service in 2022. Table of 6, and we waited for drink order, waited for over an hour for food. Restaurant was not even half full. A couple that sat after us, ordered and ate and left before our food came out. Honestly, the service was really, really poor and slow. That happens and we are an understanding group. What really left a bitter taste in my mouth was how that all changed when the bill came and after we had sat for so long, they had no issue with retrieving the bill and collecting the tip before we left the table. Are you kidding me? It was tacky... The owner seems like a really hard worker and a nice guy and I think he truly cares about his business and patrons, I hope this was a one off for us. I'd recommend this place but I do have reservations based on my last experience.

Beyond rude. I never give bad reviews even if I had a bad experience somewhere. But today it’s 69 degrees today (yes in November) so I wanted to treat myself to some margaritas and sit out on the patio. When I asked if there’s patio seating he looked at me with a terrible face as if it was such an inconvenience. He asked me again if i wanted to really sit outside. I said yes please. He said “you know it’s winter” sarcastically, I’m like “yes but it’s 70 degrees outside” And he said “yes but it’s still winter” I said kindly, “you know what, I’ll just go someplace else” Definitely not gonna spend money somewhere with poor quality customer service Didn’t even get to try their margaritas By the way this was around 2pm, there was only 1 other table being seated with 2 people, it’s not like it was crowded or rush hour. Very disappointing.

Wow, from the chips to the last drink, everything was AMAZING! Highly recommend this restaurant, always good food every time we have visited. We travel 25 minutes just to eat here, be sure to try their pozole verde and micheladas!

My absolute favorite place to go. The fresh food and flavors, topped with perfectly crafted drinks excellent service brings me back every time.

Really yummy spot. Great friendly service. Very clean, you can tell they really take pride in their restaurant, such cute decor. My friend picked this spot for lunch and it was great. I had the molcajete fajitas, so delicious!! And even the next day, they tasted amazing. My friend is vegetarian, and what I notice from other spots, this place offered Spinach enchiladas burritos, instead of just cheese. She really liked them. So that was cool. For you mezcal drinkers, they have it here. I know that is currently not being served everywhere, but this spot has it. I really want to come back and try more dishes. Highly recommend this spot.
