The potatoes were crispy on the outside and soft inside, and we loved the butter with the bread. This was followed by loaded polenta chips and hiramasa kingfish in tomato miso consomme. The kingfish was delicate and fresh, enhanced by the flavorful consomme. Even my wife, who isn't usually a fan of polenta, enjoyed this version. The hanger steak and panca chicken came next, both seasoned well and cooked perfectly. The steak was served with chimichurri sauce, complementing the meat nicely, while the chicken was tender and moist with a sweet potato sauce and black beans. Dessert consisted of white chocolate truffles spiked with rum and sour glazed cherries, a light and delicious ending to our meal. We also enjoyed French Rose and Argentinian Malbec wine from their varied selection. The service was friendly and efficient, and credit cards were accepted. If you opt for the chef's selection, be prepared to spend at least two hours for your meal. Parking is usually available on the streets off Beaufort Street, and it's free after 6 p.m. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and look forward to returning to try more items on the menu.
My experience at this restaurant was underwhelming. We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon and decided to order some wine and the duck liver parfait. The wine was enjoyable, but the parfait was not worth the price and lacked flavor. Surprisingly, the highlight of the dish was the bread it came with. I do not plan on returning to this restaurant in the near future.
Such a cool venue, really friendly staff, great prices. This is my go to place to bring clients, as well as to bring my wife!
Love the bar area and the outdoor area (especially as they cater for smokers) Food though is awful...I mean really, what other place serves pate already on the bread?! Had some veggie meal and yuck...and my partner's burger was red raw (not sure it actually saw a grill at all)...real shame as the ambiance is great. Bit odd though there's a game machines taking up precise table space...more chairs more money spent I'd think
Took my partner to Clarences for the first time. Great vibe for after work 9r just a quiet. Loved the prawns and the waitperson recommended the corn fritters. Loved it all especially the attentive and friendly staff who took time out despite being flat out busy.
