The Poya Day Vegan Buffet

I usually avoid buffets, but this was incredible! it just happened to fall the day after I got into the country (on vacation), so perfect timing! there were so many desserts, wow, and to choose a lot of netzen, so they try to step themselves I was with one of the manager and they said they do a daily high tee as well. if they give them advance notice, they will ensure that vegan options are available for them. updated by previous review on 2020-03-09

We were surprised by the variety of foods on this monthly buffet and wish that we could be in colombo for another poya day! there must be at least 45 hot hearty dishes, not including the huge salat station that represents kitchens from all over the world. sri lankan, of course also indian, Pakistani, Thai, Lebanese, Italian, German and more! our greatest challenge was to stop us! desserts are beautifully displayed, and range from cakes and brownies to jelly and agar style puddings. plus fresh fruit. the total cost of the buffet (without beverages, excluding table water and fruit juice shots) are 2,300 rupien. This also includes access to the hotel's swimming pool, which is usually 1000 rupien for a day visitor. if they are in colombo for full moon, they try not to miss this. it is probably worth calling ahead as it was very busy when we visited! Note the restaurant of the gouverneur where the buffet is served, is normally not a vegan restaurant, but it has a regular separate vegan menu!

I have planned my sri lanka trip around this buffet, it worth it! so much choice, the salat and dessertable were it on their own faust worth it. but the hot food was also excellent! I hope I can come back one day!

A lovely way to spend a Poya day. the employees and chefs make it possible for them to decide on a complicated afternoon. the pool and the beach are part of the package (but take care of swimming before eating!) they also make a tour through the beautiful old hotel (get to ask about the museum and the love tunnel). I'm a happy master!

For 2000 LKR you get an extraordinary vegan buffet with dishes from many different countries. The dessert table is to die for. You can eat inside or out by the pool with beautiful views of the ocean. You have use of both the pool and the private beach included in the price. I live In Mount Lavinia and come on poya days every chance I get. I've never needed to make a reservation.
