After friends recommended The Cabin I encouraged my partner to book on our Wednesday night date. We were disappointed immediately as we were told there'd be a big log fire and on a cold night the idea of being cozy was inviting. The fire was a disappointing flame, we were freezing. The food was equally disappointing. We ordered the braised chicken to share and it was a bland and tasteless mixture of canned corn and chicken overwhelmed with huge potato chunks. The service was mediocre and frustratingly uninformed. I wouldn't go back.
After looking for a mid-week dinner for two (a rare night without the kids) the decision was made to try The Cabin Small Bar for something different, largely from other reviews here and also on the recommendation of a friend.Firstly, for a Wednesday night the place was fairly well a full house. A quirky choice of decor gives the place a warm and welcoming atmosphere which is matched by the friendliness of the staff.Having never been before, we sought some assistance about the right quantity to order and proceeded with the Kimchi Chicken Wings, Charred Pumpkin, Buffalo Meatballs and Quail Breast Kiev. All of the food presented exceptionally well and tasted as good as it looked...except for the meatballs which looked great but (by comparison to the other food) was just a a little bland.Overall our experience turned out to be great and one we'll certainly repeat again in the future. It's not somewhere for a quiet dinner with having quite a vibrant atmosphere but it's definitely somewhere to head a a good night out with great food.
I have been to the Cabin a couple times and regret not being able to go more often. Staff here are warm and welcoming and Adam's food just qualifies the occasion. I have my favourites, such as the kimchi wings, quail breast kievs, buffalo meat balls and the Queensland scallops. What I love about this place is the flavours that entertain your palate as you sip on good wine and enjoy the company of good friends. Yes and the price is reasonable too. Will I return? Yes as soon as I can.
Great little place for catch up with friends or intimate drink and tapas. ( maybe not Friday nights lol ) Food is excellent quality and host Alf and girls make you feel very welcome !
