The Burning Tree - Mount Desert

Fantastic seafood! Excellent service! Wonderful atmosphere! We stumbled upon this place by chance, and we’re so glad we did. We can’t wait to return for another visit soon!

We visited The Burning Tree Restaurant for takeout on a Sunday afternoon. We ordered the house-made smoked salmon, the halibut salad, and the green bean salad. Since it was takeout, we didn't get to see the portions until we were far away or the restaurant was closed. The green bean salad, priced at $12, was incredibly small—definitely not worth the cost. My husband and I finished it in just six bites. We're talking about green beans here! If you decide to go, make sure to check your food before leaving to confirm that you’re getting the portions displayed when you ordered. I ended up with less than a side salad. Sorry, I didn't take a picture!

This charming local spot offered amazing food and wine tastings on Thursdays. It was the perfect way to conclude our trip to Maine.

I've indulged in the smoked salmon multiple times this summer, and I just enjoyed a serving I bought five days ago. It was still fantastic, even though it was just stored in the fridge in its original wrapping. There's no other place that comes close to this quality. Thank you, Elmer and team!

8/12/2022 stopped here for lunch and what a great choice! The restaurant area was closed but you picked from the food choices in the glass display case. I picked the smoked salmon salad, some fancy seltzer water, and a blueberry pastry! They brought out the salad and let me tell you it was so good!!! Fresh and delicious!! It has slices of red potatoes, onions, mixed greens, capers, smoked salmon, and dressing. The blueberry pastry was the BEST I’ve ever had! This place is a must stop if you’re in the area!! The rating should be higher! They have different wines and local beers inside as well. I would highly recommend stopping here any chance you get!! There was some nice outside seating as well!!
