One of the best experiences in Colorado! The food is amazing, from the salad to the dessert! The staff is always so kind and helpful when deciding what to order. Always a great time eating dinner at The Fort!
Had dinner here before a Red Rocks concert. Great place to go for wild game. The food was phenomenal along with fantastic service!
Being a Colorado native, I was excited to try the Fort for my husbands 40th birthday. The ambiance is incredible, if you are able to sit outside, you must, the views are incredible. That was about the only good part of our experience though. When we sat down, we ordered our appetizers and drinks pretty immediately because we had a toddler with us. The appetizers came out and we still didn't have our drinks and our server was no where to be found. After about 35 minutes for our drinks finally came out. The server apologized and said that he bartender had cut his hand, but he could have come out and told us that instead of keeping us waiting. In the time, we would have liked out dinner menus so we could start perusing what we wanted to have for dinner. Fast forward about another 30 minutes, our drink are empty and our server finally comes around to order our dinner... Meals come with bread, salad and veggies and a starch. Ordering and salads are fine, but every time we ordered a drink it seemed like we were putting the server out. When the food arrived, my child's hot dog was burnt to a crisp. I asked for it to be remade and it took 15 minutes for them to heat up a hot dog!!!! The food was good, I got the salmon and my husband got the sampler plate and we would both order them again. A friend got the NY strip and another person got the Quail, they both said they were delicious. Eating our dinner entrees and getting the check took about 45 minutes. I understand that eating here is an experience, but it took over 2.5 hours to have dinner. I had to ask to skip my husbands birthday dessert because it was way past my toddlers bedtime. I am not sure if our server was just having a bad night or what, but I am not sure if I would go back to The Fort for the price of each plate.
Being a family friendly restaurant with such whimsical decor, I wish I could give a higher rating. However, for how much they’re charging for an unseasoned piece of meat paired with potatoes and sugar snap peas (which tastes like they were marinated in margarine) is egregious! I’m surprised they didn’t ask for my first born on the way out considering what they’re asking you to fork over at the end of your meal is atrocious. Our server was about as impressive as the food. Although I wasn’t as surprisingly disappointed by that seeing as I have relatively low expectations for customer service these days. Final summation: I HIGHLY suggest saving your money and time (if you drove all the way from Commerce City like I did), and going to almost any other reasonably priced establishment. You at least won’t be disappointed you came here. ¯ (ツ) ¯
