Had a takeaway Wonton Noodle soup was very delicious and filling. Fresh chicken stock and vegetables topped this soup.
Two special friends were quietly married in the morning and we were to have lunch with 16 others at the Phoenix Restaurant. We had not been to this place and to us from Morayfield it seemed a little nondescript place from the front, with no great façade or attraction to draw us in.We found it a small and typical Chinese Restaurant with individual tables, we had 4 placed together for our party.I had to smile at the bulldog clips holding the protective plastic on the tables! The Chef himself greeted us and was very cordial and eager to please. After we were seated the waitress came to get our drinks order. The choice is mainly from a drinks frig, and that was ok. Someone asked for Orange juice but that was not in the frig, so reverted to Lemonade. The host had ordered a buffet style meal for us all.The Duck spring rolls were very yummy as were the other usual flavour. The Dim Sims were also very good, we then had Sweet corn/chicken soup. My husband loves that soup and always has it when we go Chinese and he was very happy with the taste and texture. (have had a few watery ones in our time)The main meals were great, big bowls of sweet and sour Pork, Fried Rice, Chicken chow mein, satay beef, curried prawns and a couple of others were placed on the tables. I have to say the servings were generous. We actually had a couple of take home containers filled with the remains, even with that amount of people. We were all full, but wait there's more, then we had deep fried ice cream!! A good size ball with Caramel topping, yummy!I noted that even with our table numbers, several other families came in and ordered table service, and also take away. The food just kept coming out.I have to say I was pleasantly surprised at the generous portions and the great taste. One lady I was talking with said they love the food and go there often.I think we will take a leaf out of her book and go back with another couple and see if they are as good the second time around.
The besrt Laksa we have tasted in Australia. Great service and a simple, but inviting atmosphere that will make you feel like you are in China.
It was a casual dinner out. We ordered hot & sour soup which was really good. We also ordered kangpao chicken and Bok Choy with garlic and oyster sauce. The Bok Choy was really good. Overall food was good and service was excellent.
