In saying that, we still always like to people and plaza watch so this cafe was a wonderful find. On the plaza, and most everything has an Artisans flair. From the hot chocolate to the pastry, from the tortas to the beer, they pride themselves on the uniqueness of their offerings. Just loved this place. Then as Canadians or Americans) do, we added a couple of orders of french fries thinking for 50 pesos they would be small orders and just accompany our dishes. To our wonder , these large baskets with a family size portion of fries arrived. I tried and tried but just couldn 't finish everything. In front of the Hotel Casino
We enjoyed sitting at the tables outside along the long plaza watching all the activity and the view! We also had a view of a bridal shop and was fun to watch customers trying on dresses! We came mostly for a nice cold cervesa but decided to have a quesadilla for lunch with a salad. It was very good! Our waitress was super friendly and very efficient with quick service since it was not too busy later on in the afternoon. The next day we came for lunch our male server was not as friendly or efficient and took a while to get our cervesa and lunch took longer as well. The had two for one beer and would bring us four bottles at once. We told him that we wish to drink cold beer and to bring us the other two later on .He became a little friendlier later on most likely hoping for a tip! Can't complain about the food which was good each day we came. The boss of the place sits at a table observing the staff and keeping an eye on things. When customers leave for lack of service, he is not happy and lets them know it. We'll come back on our next visit to Morelia!
Wonderful food! Had Sopa Terasco (traditional bean soup) which has amazing flavor! New favorite! Chamorro con pulque was huge. If you are a Molé fan, this dish is for you. Servings are large portions. My kids had Sopa de Fideo, which was pretty bland. Burgers were a hit as well
My partner and I spent the evening in Cafe Cathedral. As we had some lunch earlier in the day all that we wanted was some coffees and to relax. We spent some time there and the service was reasonable. We asked for the bill and our waiter gave it to us without problem. As we were leaving, another waiter came over to us with the bill tray saying that if you like you can leave a tip. His manner was extremely rude. He stood quite close to us and specifically watched us as we were getting ready to leave, making us feel quite uncomfortable. We had payed our dues for what we had consumed but we felt this waiter wanted more. I felt that we had the right to leave this establishment in comfort. This was not the case.
Everything that could go wrong on a restaurant wen't wrong. Service was horrible, we had to call our servers several times to order something, once we order it took them ages to get us what we wanted. There's no coffee refill which I believe is a standard now in any restaurant. My wife complain about how bad her eggs tasted and that they had a strange smell, my eggs where so so and they forgot my mother in law's eggs so she decided to cancel what she ordered.
