Foxy - Montreal

Could the staff have been friendlier? Not possible! The people, the atmosphere and the space were great. It felt like the best of New York, but also the best of Montréal in one place. The staff were so knowledgeable about the food that it was...hard to go wrong. The wine list was incredibly well priced. A great old Bordeaux for The menu changes, so difficult to say what to order, but the carrots were insanely good as was the halibut starter. You cannot go wrong at Foxy!

I really like the food here. It may not be the most over the top dishes but it feels like home with style. to make my point I love the steak-frites with grilled salad. (they don't do rib-eye or other cuts) In addition they have...a WOOD FIRED oven which they use for many dishes and it adds the secret ingredient.

After a hiatus due to obvious reasons, Cena con Bellissima was started up again and my BFF did what she does best: chose another stellar restaurant for our first outing. Foxy was the venue and it was a wonderful evening. The menu is concise...but it was still difficult to make a selection because every option sounded and looked appetizing. I love how restaurants like Foxy emphasize the pleasure of enjoying each bite of unique culinary creations. It’s exactly the kind of experience that I missed this past year. The setting is minimalist but comfortable. Our waitress was a delight. She was charming and made great suggestions.

We went to Foxy right after their reopening in July We were seated on their outside terrace which is nice and cozy. Service is warm and professional. The menu is unique and different from main stream restaurants with fresh ingredients and options that are...very creative. Their wine list is mainly private import which brings very nice discoveries. Cant wait to go back !

From the get-go, our waitress was snarky and inattentive. When I ended up changing my mind and ordering the rioja (only one of four light reds on the wines by the glass menu; no cabs or heavier French fare to accompany the red meat), she...sarcastically retorted, oh, that's the one YOU said you didn't like when I asked about a particular Bordeaux on the list, she explained the basic taste of a Bordeaux to me, not the characteristics of that particular wine. When we left, the hostess/coat check person couldn't find my jacket and when I found it myself, she seemed to imply that it wasn't mine, but that it belonged to someone in the group she just sat. Nice warm atmosphere in the place, but for such an expensive, hip place, the service and level of our server's knowledge of wine was sorely lacking.
