A fine option for breakfast or lunch downtown Huge menu of sandwiches, breakfast foods like eggs/benedicts, waffles, crepes, etc.

Pretty decent brunch place near where we were staying The portions are HUGE for the price and the decor of the restaurant is very welcoming.

We sat outside on a warm late morning and had a very good breakfast. I liked how we were warned about the wasps beforehand, but they are everywhere this summer so it is what it is.Overall one of the best values for breakfast that we found on our trip. Two orders of eggs, meat, potatoes, toast and coffee along with a substantial kids meal was less than $40!Food was tasty, coffee was delicious and the service was top notch. Can't wait to come back again on our next visit up the 401 to Montreal.Kid-friendliness: Great kids options and very well priced.

GO to the other Universel if you are considering visitingMy experience here was not great. Maybe because of staffing changes from before, the food and service was below average.Food: If people wanted to try poutine here, I wouldn’t recommend. The poutine was salty, and the cheese curds didn’t melt, with the gravy luck warm. I would rather go to any other chain. The server told me they serve their poutine like this. If so, then all the more not to visit here.Service: Walking in, I wasn’t seated until the manager talked to the hosts. They initially saw me waiting and went back to chatting with their friends for another several minutes. The restaurant only had a dozen people. Maybe they don’t get paid enough to care.I usually go to the Universel across by Montagne. But, heck, I thought it was worth visiting again since I was closer today.
