Service friendliness Some of the best pho I’ve had BUT... the owner( who served us never greeted us when we arrived- in fact it was obvious we were a bother to him. Order was taken and part of order never...arrived. Other than some mumbling from him when we ordered that was the full extent of interaction. The entire time he was either on his cell phone or watching tv. Waited for check which never came so went to register which also must have been an inconvenience to him as I had to say “hello” for him to eventually turn around (he was seated on the opposite side of the counter- I could have tapped him on the shoulder)to take my money! Food delicious service horrible.
The food is great no matter what you choose on the menu. Service is a bit slow. The spring rolls were really good and so was the « tonkinoise » soup. The chicken and beef brochette was very good. You can bring your own wine.
Was heading back from the bank when we passed this restaurant. The menu looked great so we stopped in. We were the only customer and the waiter seemed more interested in his phone than waiting on us. We had to walk up to the counter...to get his attention most of the time. The food was great but the service sucked. When checking out he did not present us with a tab only ringing up the total on the register. By calculation we got charged for a beverage we never received. Food good, service terrible. I left a tip and regretted it after we left.
We come from a city with amazing ethnic foods so we may have been a little hard to please. We wanted Pho for lunch so stopped in at Pho Maisonneuve. The restaurant was run by one guy in the front who took take out orders,...waited on the tables, cashed out etc. The place was fairly clean and small but it wasn't overly busy....would say it was half full. Menu was in French only so we had to ask for translation. Between the of us we order Pho with beef and Thai curry chicken with rice. We always share our dishes so that we can try more than one. On a scale of with being the best, I would rate the pho as a was so/so and meat was not paper thin but chunky. The curry chicken would also be rated a but nothing to write home about. Dishes came with a vegetarian spring roll which I think was filled with cabbage. No asian tea was offered. Bill with no drinks (just water) came to about before tip. Would we go back? No. Montreal has way too many other restaurants for us to go back to a mediocre one.
We were looking for a restaurant in this part of town and had read great reviews about this spot...we left disappointed. The food was just OK, nothing special at all. I've eaten at many Vietnamese restaurants, but this one lacked flavour and ambience. The man...serving us appeared to be the owner and was very nice. The place is clean. the problem is that the food is just bland and their menu is confusing. We are bilingual so there was no language issue but we still ended up with a weird assortment of food.
