L'Gros Luxe - Montréal

Off the Rue St. Denis is the L'Gros Luxe on Duluth Street. Friends had discovered this location and wanted to try it again. Our party of 5 was able to sit in the corner of the outdoor garden, which was walled in from a side street. The openness was so pleasant as we waited for our cocktails. In case of inclement weather, they have a clever series of awnings that may be opened above to allow for an uninterrupted dining experience. When our martinis and cosmos arrived we found that they were served with the customary amounts of alcohol that Americans are used to having in such drinks. The waiter carefully explained the specials and patiently answered our questions. I chose the chicken quesadillas made with spinach flour. The very ample portions and salad made for a filling meal. We thoroughly relaxed and unwound as we sipped and ate. It was such a positive dining experience that a few days later we returned. This time we sat in the bar area. We occupied a long metal table, and though the day was hot, we felt a nice breeze. Many of us, including myself, had the same meal again- and as before, we were not disappointed in any way. In fact sitting in such a different location, made it all seem brand new, which was an excellent feeling. I wish this place was closer to where I live.

Tous les gros luxe offrent une nourriture style "comfort food". Service rapide, peu cher et portion gigantesque. On y retourne régulièrement et qualité de la nourriture est toujours la même. Valeur sure.

I have been to other Gros Luxe places and this one was the nicest one. I had the chef's soup, which had eggs and spinach I believe and then a broccoli mac n cheese. Food was good, service was okay, but the menu is very limited. I feel like it's all about poutines, grilled cheese, etc. they could make some changes. For the price they charge, for not even big portions, they should get a better menu. In general, it was ok.

YUM! Great brunch restaurant in Le Plateau. I came here on a Saturday morning with my friend who lives in Montreal.
