When we were researching places to eat, we had the impression that this restaurant only or primarily served a tasting menu--that has changed. The menu is now a la carte and they...are positioning themselves as more of a neighborhood restaurant for everyday dining. I could certainly imagine becoming a regular if I lived nearby. The dining room is small, dim, and cozy. Service friendly and thoughtful. When we were told they no longer offered a tasting menu, our server offered to prepare us a discovery menu This consisted of his favorite dishes from the published menu presented in a progression. Some of the highlights included their housemade sourdough bread and a grilled cabbage salad. For dessert, they surprised us with an extra course after the dessert we offered--such a thoughtful gesture! My suspicion is that, with their new sister restaurant Pastel now open and serving a daily tasting menu, Le Fantome has decided to pivot to a slightly more casual format. That's not a bad thing, but guests should know what to expect, as this appears to be a change from years previous. Still, this was an enjoyable meal in a pleasant atmosphere and we enjoyed our visit.
We celebrated our wedding anniversary there on May Extremely well turned out dishes, attentive staff and a local/seasonal changing daily menu! If you visit your will be very glad you did!
The woman that took my reservation was absolutely rude and disrespectful. Wow i was shocked. I asked her if it was okay to reserve for and she tells me; ‘well dont ask me ´. I called back after taking the reservation to cancel it...as she did not make me want to go there. I told her im sorry I will have to cancel the reservation and said ‘Okay bye now’ and hung up. WOW! This rtruly ruined my night and is so rude. Im sure the food is great but I wont be going anything soon because of the service and attitude. It should not be torelable. This happened on March Hopefully you dont get her there!
This small restaurant on the edge of Grffintown was a warm on welcoming end to a brisk walk on icy streets on an early December winter. We were celebrating our anniversary and every we came into contact with wished us well. We had the degustation...menu with wine pairing and everything was excellent -well seasoned with unusual wines. We ordered the signature PBJ sandwich (not to be missed and there is good reason why it has never been taken off the menu! Our server Emily was just lovely and made our evening even more special.
Had the opportunity to dine here with my wife for our anniversary and they honestly treated us like gold. The food was both delicious and creative. Service was warm and fun and you could tell everyone had a strong knowledge of the dishes. Walked out...of there happy as could be.
