If you’re in old Montreal and would like a wonderful drink with lovely bartenders, I recommend sitting at their bar and chatting with them. We spoke with...both Meghan and Antoine who were both great company, had a few drinks, and a really lovely time. We also saw a few people use a sword to open the champagne bottles which is on my to do list for my next trip. Cheers
Went with a friend for a birthday dinner, and what a menu. Lots of variety, great bubbly, best poutine EVER! Really wish to have done a couple meals there.
This is the place you wanna go for different type of occasion:- pre-drink- after dinner drink- dinner- simply being social I mean the scenery is really nice, the crowd always seems to be fun. I know that on weekends there 's a DJ but it does not prevent you from speaking to one an other like in other places...And for all those comments who mention the high price well they don't know the vieux Montreal's prices...if you want a cheap drink go Cote Des Neiges...If you want to have a nice drink surrounded by professional staff and a good Montreal ambiance La Champagnerie is for you!
Nice bar great service older crowd excellent variety of music. The kind of place you always want to go back too. Food and drinks are amazing! Make sure you see them sabrer le champagne.
My wife turned 50 and I was looking for a place for 5 couples. My wife loves bubbly and so when I landed on this place...it was a Eureka moment! Making reservations was easy and the person taking the reservation was very pleasant. They contacted me before to confirm the amount as it was Grand Prix weekend and they wanted to ensure the 10 seats...I totally get it and confirmed. That evening one of the couples had to cancel due to a medical emergency. As this was a surprise party, I only found out when I got there and told our waitress this. I got a condescending eye roll. I felt the need to show her my buddy in intensive care suffering from a diabetic ketoacidosis attack. Not normal. Bygones. I asked if my wife could open a bottle of champagne through the very unique saber-method. She pointed to the more expensive bottles. I had to ask if there is anything cheaper to which she exasperatedly showed me other options. This makes the customer feel cheap. I ordered the large cheese platter and large charcuterie platters for my guests. The platters are good and we started to enjoy the evening, however, the bus boy kept coming to take the platters away despite not being finished. The place was half empty!! Finally the waitress came back for our orders. She was very insistent on that we take starters despite the two platters. More eye rolls and heavy sighs when someone refused. One of our guests actually wanted two starters instead of a main to which she was told this was impossible. As I was the organizer of this evening, I felt I had to be in constant damage control. The sommelier even gave us an eye roll when we selected a cheaper ($75) bottle of wine (despite the fact we bought 3 bottles). To which I had to conclude was a management's strategy to push the higher priced items. I realize this is Grand Prix weekend and you want to gouge out-of-town tourists but we are locals who are always looking for places to go. Despite the wonderful concept, very good food, you struck out. It's unfortunate as after having dropped $400 I would have expected more. The good news is that it is fixable and I only write this in the hopes that you will either change your restaurant's philosophy and/or train your service staff accordingly.
