Hwang Kun - Montréal

This is my mom's favorite korean restaurant which is also why I brought her there for mother's day dinner :). As usual their seafood pancakes are the best! Freshly made, crispy and super delicious. If you go there, make sure you order the Galbi, it's their beef rib steak. Chewy and sweet. Spicy tofu soup is their most authentic korean soup, is your perfect match with korean rice. Unfortunately, besides these 3 dishes, the others aren't as good. It's either too salty or it taste weird. My wife is also a fanatic korean food lover so I have korean quite often. The service is okay, the food arrive quickly despite the fact that they are always packed!

What a great discovery, this little restaurant is a real pearl. We had the chance to go into a creed and the meal we had had we coughed back to a seoul. in addition to the very nice service. It's true Korean with dishes that are not found elsewhere in other Montreal restaurants. We'll go back there for sure.

The food at this authentic Korean restaurant is delicious! The only issue you may run into are the funky business hours. They are not open for the full stated business hours. You should call in advance to make sure they are open. Other than that, it's worth the effort to go.

My personal pick (They are the repeated order in every repeated visit to the restaurant) 1) Seafood Pajeon. Weather authentic or not I don't know, but it is delicious. Iz abit greasy, but again it is DELICIOUS. I like it the pancake has volume, not flat, lots of vegetable inside2) Spicy tofu soup (Soondubu) My personal favor. The soup taste is excellent and unique coz at Korean market, they do have the soup base for this dish, but at Hwang Kum, they somehow added their secret recipe and it is special.They always close on Sunday, and they tend to close the restaurant irregularly without notice. They have break in late afternoon as well.Best to call them up first, if the line is always engaged or no one pick up the phone after several attempts, likely they are closed. It works for me so far.

Food is always good, good service, clean and organized kitchen. I keep going back 3 times a year minimum.
